Kobelt Leads Charge at ITA Midwest Regionals; ITA Regional Look

Ohio State's Peter Kobelt will lead the charge at the ITA Midwest Regional in the singles as the number 1 seed. Held at Ohio State, Kobelt is the defending singles champion as well. Coming into the season as the number 3 ranked singles player in the nation, Kobelt had a short, disappointing main draw run at the ITA All-American. USC Qualifier Jonny Wang took out the 2-seeded Ohio State senior 4-6, 7-6, 6-3 in the first round.

As the 1 seed, Peter Kobelt will take on a qualifier in the first round. He will be looking for the automatic bid to the ITA Indoor Intercollegiate Championship that is guaranteed to the winner of this tournament (as well as the other ITA Regional tournaments). Illinois sophomore Jared Hiltzik will not be participating in this weekend as he already clinched a spot into the ITA Indoor Intercollegiate Championship with a quarterfinal showing at the ITA All-American. Hiltzik was the only player last year to defeat last years NCAA Champion from Ohio State, Blaz Rola.
