Fed-Nadal Match at the US Open will have to wait; US Open Day 8 Recap

Rafael Nadal did his part to align a Federer-Nadal dream quarterfinal at the US Open after beating German Phillip Kohlschreiber 6-7, 6-4, 6-3, 6-1. After playing a tight set and a half, Nadal caught fire and there was no stopping him from there. It even got to the point in the 5th set when Kohlschreiber held serve down 0-5 that he got a huge applause.

Roger Federer could not to his part, as he fell to Spaniard Tommy Rebredo. After playing a flawless match to Adrian Mannarino, the said could not be said for him this match. Robredo (The 19th seed) grinded out this match, winning in straight sets 7-6, 6-3, 6-4. Robredo will now play Nadal in the Quarterfinals on Wednesday.

I also got time to watch the Milos Raonic-Richard Gasquet match which I knew would be a good one. Those two played solid tennis the whole way through, stepping up when it mattered. Unfortunately for Raonic, his legs gave out a game too early in the 5th set and Gasquet took advantage and broke at 5-5 to go up 6-5. Raonic had no more fight in him as Gasquet won 6-7, 7-6, 2-6, 7-6, 7-5. Both of these two played some of their best tennis and made it a joy to watch. Gasquet will have to recover quickly though, as he will play work-horse David Ferrer in the quarterfinals on Tuesday.

Sorry about the delay on this. With traveling yesterday, I had other work aligned this morning that needed taking care of. Fry That Chicken.
