Kokkinakis ousts Quinzi, Redlicki still alive in doubles; US Open Juniors Recap

When the two doubles partners Gianluigi Quinzi (Italy) and Thanasi Kokkinakis (Australia) went against each other in the quarterfinals, a lot was on the line. In my eyes, the winner of these two would go onto win the whole thing. What this meant was that Quinzi was trying to win his second straight junior grand slam, while Kokkinakis was trying to win his first singles grand slam.

After Quinzi won the first set, Kokkinakis took over. The Aussie ended up taking the next 2 sets in route to his 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 victory. Kokkinakis will now play number 3 seed French Open champion Christian Garin in the semfinals. In the other semifinal, top seed Alexander Zverev (who took out Kalamazoo champion Collin Altamirano) will play 4th seeded Borna Coric, who convincly took out an on fire Quentin Halys from France.

American Martin Redlicki and his partner Kamil Majchrzak (Poland) will play for a grand slam doubles title Saturday against Halys and partner Frederico Silva of Portugal.

I am now 45-15 after going 2-2 on Friday. Here are my picks for Saturday:
Zverev vs. Coric
Kokkinakis vs. Garin

Have a Nice Night,
