Nadal Claims His 13th Grand Slam Title; Final US Open Recap

In a year that Rafael Nadal hasn't lost on a hard court, he kept that streak up tonight by downing Novak Djokovic 6-2, 3-6, 6-4, 6-1. Nadal played exceptionally through the first set in a half until Djokovic started to catch on fire. It was phenomenal tennis from both players, including a 54 ball rally in the 2nd set. After only being broken once throughout the entire tournament, Nadal was broken twice in the second set by Djokovic. In the 3rd set, it looked like Djokovic was going to run away with the set being up love-40 when it was 4-4. But Nadal came back to win that game with the help of having a 125 mph ace. Then on Nadal's first set point, he took the 3rd set 6-4. Djokovic may have still been down from there, hitting too many unforced errors in the 4th set as his foe went onto take the set and the match.

Nadal is now 3rd in the all time singles grand slam list with 13 to his name, trailing American Pete Sampras (14 slams) and Swiss Roger Federer (17 slams). Given a few more years of this sort of tennis, Nadal will definitely pass Roger Federer's mark.

I ended up being 88-38 throughout this tournament, as I am said it is coming to an end. I haven't decided what I'm doing coverage wise for the fall, but keep an eye out.
