Gasquet Wins Another 5 Setter; US Open Day 10 Recap

After saving match points against Canadian Milos Raonic in the previous round, Richard Gasquet is through to the semifinals after surviving another tough 5 setter with Spaniard David Ferrer. I would've picked Gasquet to win this in my pick if he hadn't just come off a 5 setter, but the Frenchman proved he was in better shape than I originally had thought.

His opponent for the semifinal will be Spaniard Rafael Nadal, who dominated his fellow countryman Tommy Robredo. Nadal jumped out to a 6-0 lead after just 22 minutes and continued to dominate from there. In just 1 hour and 34 minutes, Nadal went on to win 6-0, 6-2, 6-2.

This semifinal matchup is a fun one because both players recall to when they played when they were 13 (which Gasquet won) and Gasquet said Nadal was quite the fighter. Nadal hasn't lost a beat in that category since then, as these two will play Saturday.

Here is a clip of their match when they were 13 at Les Petit As in France (The most prestigious 14 & Under tournament in the world). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KzKuv4j67aw

I went 1-1 with my picks Wednesday (84-37 overall). Here are my picks for Thursday:
Novak Djokovic vs. Mikhail Youzhny
Youzhny has had a great run, but it's just about over as he takes on World Number 1 Novak Djokovic. Djokovic is playing strong and if he keeps that up, Youzhny has no chance.
My Pick: Novak Djokovic

Andy Murray vs. Stanislas Wawrinka
This match-up is intriguing, as Andy Murray hasn't been playing great so far in this US Open. This is where he will need to step it up. Wawrinka is coming in hot after a win versus Tomas Berdych, and Wawrinka is looking to be the top ranked Swiss. Expect Wawrinka to come out and fight. I see this match going 5 sets, whichever way it goes.
My Pick: Andy Murray

Have a Great Day,
Fry That Chicken
